Looking to be more energy efficient?
Thanks to the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC), an extra £20million of funding has just been made available for public sector energy saving projects. The aim of the scheme is to remove the upfront capital barrier that might be preventing the Public Sector from becoming more energy efficient.
“This extra money for universities,
schools, local authorities, hospitals
and other public organisations will
help get even more energy saving
schemes up and running across the
country and will help the public sector
to continue leading by example on
energy efficiency.”
Greg Barker
Energy and Climate Change Minister
Types of projects that qualify for funding
The funds are available for energy efficient projects that pay for themselves within five years through lower energy bills. There are over 120 types of energy efficiency technology that qualify. One of the ways to save up to 50%, and quickly, is to switch to our energy saving lighting.
Energy saving lighting – savings example
Cost: £5,600*
Total energy saving: £264 per month
Interest-free loan repayment: £117 per month
Saving during loan period: £136 per month
How does the funding work?
It’s provided as an interest free loan. You wouldn’t start to repay it until April 2013, and your repayments would be made from the money saved on your energy bills. Once the loan is repaid, you’ll continue to benefit from the energy savings. When should you apply?
With a limited amount of funding, and a closing date for applications of the end of March 2012, time is of the essence! The funding is being allocated on a first come first served basis and we’d like to help you apply for it.
Not ready to start yet?
Providing your project is finished by the end of 2012, you can apply for your funding now. This way, you’ll have your interestfree funds ready to use later this year. The sooner you start your project, the sooner you’ll benefit from the energy savings!
