Stand Alone Wind Turbines

Wind turbines can be used to harness the power contained in the wind to generate electricity. For a wind turbine to operate effectively it needs to be located sufficiently far away from any obstructions such as trees and other buildings. A range of ‘small’ wind turbines (in the range of 6-50kW) are now commercially available. The viability of using a wind turbine would depend upon on having a suitable area of land on which to site it.
